Caleb Gillette Gospel Message The Cross

I recently saw an article titled, “Jeff Bezos funds the quest for eternal life.” Jeff Bezos, the world’s richest man, is worth 200.6 billion dollars. Wealthy, powerful, comfortable, yet there is one thing even he cannot buy. Time. As he nears the end of his days, he faces the confrontation with the cruel reality of death, which we must all face. No amount of money can buy him or you more time. The Bible says God has put eternity into our hearts. We all desire to live forever and, we cannot escape this desire, and if you are honest with yourself, you are afraid, even terrified, to die. But let me assure you that you’re not alone; everyone is scared of death, including Jeff Bezos. That is why he is trying to buy eternal life! But what you and Bezos must know is that you cannot purchase eternal life. There is no amount of money, power, or good works that can get you into heaven. Only one person can present eternal life, and His name is Jesus Christ!
Our rebellion against God brought upon us all the curse of death, which we cannot escape. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came down from heaven and lived the perfect life that we were incapable of living. He died on the cross and took upon Himself all our sins, and this is the most critical part, the cross. The cross is where we find our freedom from death. The cross is where we find eternal life! The cross was a brutal death, the most torturous and shameful of all. The Romans flogged Jesus Christ, likely to the point that His internal organs were visible. He then was nailed to the cross, and on that cross, He took on every sin we have ever committed. Isaiah 53:5 says, “He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds, we are healed.” At the cross, we can fall; gross, dirty, brokenhearted, Jesus acknowledges all, loves us all, and forgives all who look upon Him for forgiveness. How do you do this? By faith. The definition of faith is believing in what you cannot see while being convicted and convinced is true. Jesus’ death erases the fear of death for all those who put their trust in Him and Him alone. His blood is what washes us clean. But Jesus didn’t stay on the cross. He was buried and rose again on the third day! Why is this so important? Because Jesus overcame death and has proven He is God! He promises that everyone who believes in Him will also rise to live forever with Him when He returns. We have access to a relationship with the Creator of the Universe because of His death.
Do you wonder what your purpose is? Are you searching for love and peace? There is no need to look further than the cross. The cross proves God’s love for you. You are extraordinary to God, and though there are over 7 billion people in the world, God sees you. He knows every detail about you, even your darkest secrets, yet He still desires a relationship with you. Why? Because he loves you, despite anything you’ve done, he loves you! Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Think about that, even when you wanted nothing to do with God, He came down in human flesh, lived as the lowliest of humans, and died for you! That is how desperately God desired a relationship with every person who has ever lived. Though He knew not everyone would receive His Son, He still died. That kind of love doesn’t seem real, but it is! Do you want a relationship with God? Repent (change your mind/recognize your need for God) and believe in Jesus Christ. Speak to Him from your heart. He already knows everything about you! The moment you do this, your sins are gone, your past is clean, and your heart is white as snow, all because of Jesus. Read the Bible; it tells you how to have a relationship with God. He’s waiting for YOU!
